Janine Gutierrez recalled a past audition
Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez revealed that she auditioned for the second version of GMA’s fantasy series Encantadia when she was still a Kapuso.
There were many Kapuso actresses who tried their best to be part of the popular TV series that first featured Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Diana Zubiri, and Karylle as Sangres. The second version or the reboot featured Glaiza de Castro, Sanya Lopez, Kylie Padilla, and Gabbi Garcia.
In a recent interview for her new movie Ngayon Kaya with Paulo Avelino, Janine Gutierrez revealed that she also auditioned for Encantadia and she was aiming for the role of Amihan. She admitted that this is one of her “what if” moments, based on the article in Bandera.
“Many, many years ago, I auditioned for the Encantadia reboot in GMA and then parang na-shortlist, parang umabot ako sa finals. And I was considered to be Amihan,” the Kapamilya actress revealed.
However, the final casting did not include her and the Amihan role was given to someone else. Janine said that this made her heartbroken because she is a fan of the fantasy series as well as Iza Calzado who played Amihan in the original series.
Back then, Janine said that she did not understand why she did not get the part. The realization only came to her when she accepted the Ngayon Kaya movie project. “Nakita ko yung name ng character ko is Amihan. So I was like, oh my gosh, gets ko na that this was the Amihan that was meant for me,” Janine Gutierrez revealed.
Ngayon Kaya is set to be released in cinemas on June 22. Also included in the cast are Alwyn Uytingco, John James Uy, Donna Cariaga, Haley Dizon, and Rio Locsin.
