Honduras President Helped Smuggle Tons Of Drugs Into U.S. For Low Bribe
HONDURAS PRESIDENT – According to a prosecutor, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez helped smuggle tons of illegal drugs into the United States.
But, how much money do you need in order to bribe a president of a country? Prosecutor Jacob Gutwillig said the President was merely bribed with $25,000 in cash.
During the trial, the defendant, Geovanny Fuentes claimed that he bribed the President with $25,000. In turn, the President made Fuentes one of the “untouchables”. Furthermore, the Prosecutor said this made Fuentes “bullet-proof”.
Meanwhile, according to an article from ABS-CBN, Sanchez worked at a rice-milling company. From there, money from drugs was laundered, alleged the prosecutor.
Moreover, the US prosecutors find Hernandez as a co-conspirator of Fuentes in smuggling cocaine to the US. However, they have yet to charge him.
But, the president’s brother, Tony Hernandez, had previously been convicted of large-scale drug trafficking at a New York trial in 2019. Although, his case that had been delayed several instances in scheduled again for March 23.
As a response to the allegations, Hernandez tweeted that the witnesses on the case were set to provide “false testimonies” against him.
