Lara Quigaman talked about their life now in Canada
Beauty queen-actress Lara Quigaman decided to leave the glitz and glamour of showbiz and live with her family in Canada.
Lara and her husband, actor Marco Alcaraz, made one of the biggest decisions in their lives last year. They moved to Canada with the intention of providing a better environment for their children.
Before making that big decision, Lara and Marco were both active in their acting careers. However, they chose a quieter life and shed their celebrity status outside the country.

In a recent interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Lara Quigaman shared that when she and her husband first visited Canada, they already thought that it would be nice to live and raise their family there.
“Hindi ko alam na in demand ‘yung mga teachers. Nung nag-decide kami kung ano ang kukunin kong course sabi ko talaga gusto ko maging preschool teacher. Gusto ko mag-Early Childhood Education (ECE). So, parang tinuloy ko lang ‘yung pangarap ko,” she shared.
Talking about fulfilling her passion, Lara, as a preschool teacher now, said that she noticed that in Canada, the education system is very inclusive, even for those with special needs, children with autism, and behavioral challenges.
This job is not easy for her. The beauty queen-actress revealed that it is physically and mentally demanding. It is more challenging for her to deal with her students who are non-verbal.
Despite the challenges, Lara is thankful that Marco is there to help and support her. “Sobrang laking tulong talaga ni Marco, ng husband ko. Grabe ‘yung supporta, hindi talaga kaya kung ako lang. Dahil nandiyan siya, mas malaki talaga ‘yung effect sa akin, sa sanity ko. Talagang tumutulong siya. In terms of pagluluto, hindi na ako nagluluto kasi masarap magluto ‘yung asawa ko,” she said.
As she reflected on her life in Canada, Lara Quigaman shared important pointers to those who wanted to move to the said country. She said that it is important to prepare for it and have faith. They really prepared themselves and their kids, and they prayed a lot as well.
The celebrity mom added that it is vital to have realistic expectations. There should be a mindset that you are on your own, unlike in the Philippines, where you could have a lot of people who could help you.
