Malabon Mayor Earns Criticisms Online For Including Her Face in Moving-up Certificates
Malabon City residents criticized their Mayor on social media for allegedly including her face in the moving-up certificates.
Students and parents from public schools resorted to social media to express their displeasure with their city’s mayor, Jeannie Sandoval. They protested the distribution of certificates with Mayor Sandoval’s image during the city’s numerous moving-up events.
For other students, their joy seemed to be cut short when they saw the face of the Malabon City Mayor on the certification they received. Moreover, there was no other document given to them at the moving-up ceremony but only the said certification.
The Malabon City local administration stated in a statement that the certificate of recognition received by students is not one issued by the Department of Education (DepEd). It is claimed to have come from Mayor Sandoval in response to what the children and their families were going through.
According to a statement issued by the Malabon City Local Government Unit, the certificate was designed to commemorate the child’s hard work as well as that of the family, who worked tirelessly to guarantee that their children have a bright future.
Meanwhile, DepEd sees no problem with including the mayor of Malabon City’s face on the recognition certificate accepted by pupils at the city’s public moving-up ceremony, based on the report.
