‘Laro Laro Pick’ Winner Thanks God After ₱400,000 Jackpot Win
A contestant on It’s Showtime gained attention online after openly thanking God following her ₱400,000 jackpot win in the “Laro Laro Pick” segment on Thursday, October 1.
The contestant, known as Maye, is a tiangge vendor who said before the jackpot round that she believed her opportunity was part of God’s plan.
During the game, Maye was offered ₱20,000 but chose to continue playing. The offer was later raised to ₱30,000 and then ₱40,000. Despite the increasing amount, she rejected the ₱40,000 offer and decided to answer the jackpot question.
She was asked about the deadline for private-sector employers to give employees their 13th-month pay, based on the Department of Labor and Employment. Maye answered December 24, saying the payment should not be given beyond that date. Her answer was correct, earning her the ₱400,000 jackpot.
After learning about her win, Maye raised her hands and openly thanked Jesus. She gave the credit for her victory to God and expressed her belief that her faith had guided her throughout the experience.
Maye also mentioned Matthew 9:29, a Bible verse about faith, saying that it was one of the teachings she chose to live by. She ended her message by giving glory and thanks to God.
Her reaction was later featured in a Facebook post by GMA Network and received praise from many netizens. Several viewers said they were moved by her prayer and her willingness to openly express her faith on television. Others praised her courage and described her as an inspiration for confidently acknowledging God after her victory.
