Transwoman Allegedly Assaulted by Male Passenger in Kalibo
A 24-year-old transwoman sustained an injury to her face after she was allegedly punched by a male passenger in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo.
On Tuesday evening (July 7, 2026), the victim met the suspect in New Washington and agreed to give him a ride on her motorcycle. The two were traveling toward the Crossing Briones Highway area when an issue reportedly arose during the trip.
Authorities learned that the victim allegedly became uncomfortable and annoyed by the behavior of the passenger while they were on the road. Because of this, she decided to stop the motorcycle and let the man get off in Barangay Nalook instead of continuing the ride.
However, the situation reportedly turned violent shortly after the passenger got off the motorcycle. Investigators said the suspect suddenly punched the victim, striking the left side of her face. The attack left the victim with visible swelling on the left side of her face.
Fearing that the situation could worsen, the victim quickly left the area using her motorcycle and avoided any further confrontation with the suspect. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
The unexpected assault shocked the victim, who was only trying to end the ride peacefully after becoming uncomfortable with the suspect’s behavior. Residents in the area were also surprised to learn about the incident, which happened in a normally quiet community.
Following the incident, the victim expressed her intention to bring the matter before the Barangay Justice System to seek proper action and accountability. Local authorities are expected to look into the complaint and help both parties undergo the appropriate process.
