Viewers have complained about the new series of Coco Martin
Kapamilya Primetime King Coco Martin continues to give action-packed scenes to his viewers through his new series ‘Sigabo’ with his real-life partner, actress Julia Montes.
The CocoJul fans have been anticipating their onscreen reunion since their last project together, ‘Ang Probinsyano’, a few years ago. For a decade now, Coco’s series had earned the first slot in the primetime lineup of the Kapamilya shows.
Months after taking a break when his previous series ‘Batang Quiapo’ ended, Coco Martin and his management had already teased the new project, and it was officially launched on June 22.
However, based on the article in Inquirer, ‘Sigabo’ has received negative reactions from viewers. Following the complaints due to the alleged excessive portrayal of violence in the series, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has conducted a compliance seminar for its producers.
On Monday, July 6, the seminar took place at the MTRCB office in Quezon City. This was prompted by more than 10 complaints that the agency received.
Based on the complaints, Sigabo has showcased excessive depiction of violence, which included fistfights, physical aggression, torture scenes, and strong violent language. Complainants also cited the review for primetime TV series showing violent content.
CCM Film Productions, which produces the series and is owned by Coco Martin, and ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment attended the seminar.
Aside from being the lead actor and the producer of Sigabo, the Kapamilya Primetime King is also the writer and director of the series.
Meanwhile, aside from his successful acting career, Coco Martin is also enjoying his personal life with Julia Montes. The couple caught the attention of the online community last month when Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano asked Julia to describe Coco as a father.
There had been a lingering rumor that Julia and Coco already have a child. However, until now, they haven’t directly denied or addressed this matter.
