Francine Diaz visited San Jose National High School in Tacloban City
Kapamilya actress Francine Diaz brought entertainment this Monday, July 6, to students who had experienced severe trauma following a tragic school shooting in Tacloban.
Francine sang for and uplifted the spirits of the students at San Jose National High School, two weeks after the tragedy occurred at the campus.
This gesture by the Kapamilya young actress earned praise from both fans and the general public, as it helped, in some way, to alleviate the students’ sorrow and fear.
Based on the report from ABS-CBN Entertainment, the event was part of a psychosocial support initiative organized by the City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez.
Francine Diaz performed several songs, and of these was Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” Videos of Francine’s performance showed that the students enjoyed watching and mingling with her.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Tacloban City Schools Division supported this event for the emotional recovery of students and school personnel weeks after the tragic shooting incident, which resulted in the death of three students.
DepEd Tacloban City Schools Division Superintendent Sherlita A. Palma said in a statement that “While face-to-face classes will resume, the healing process will continue beyond the reopening of the school.”
She also said that the agency is “committed to providing sustained psychosocial support through appropriate school-based interventions and wellness activities that promote the emotional well-being of learners and school personnel.”
The DepEd official also said that the government stepped it to make this special program possible.
To recall, 13 other students were injured in the grim incident that took place inside the school last June 22. The two suspects, who were students also of the said school were caught on the same day.
