Fans are excited about Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda’s first-ever team-up
Bossing Vic Sotto and Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda announced their historic collaboration in the upcoming film ‘The Greatest Showdown.’
Vic and Vice belong to rival noontime shows. For almost five decades, Bossing has been hosting the longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga, while Vice is the main host of the Kapamilya noontime show, It’s Showtime.
It is known in the Philippine entertainment industry that network rivalry was a big thing. In the past, contract stars in a certain network were not allowed to appear or have a collaboration with another network.
However, in recent years, the network rivarly already had a blurred line. Stars from different networks are now collaborating on shows, movies, and various projects.
Last Saturday, fans of Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda gushed over their exchange of greetings on air. Vice greeted Vic on It’s Showtime, and the latter did the same on Eat Bulaga.
On Sunday, July 5, it was officially announced that two of the biggest stars of their generations are teaming up in a movie, which will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Jun Lana.
Based on the article in PEP, The Greatest Showdown is a co-production venture of ABS-CBN Studios, Star Cinema, Idea First, MZ Productions, and APT Entertainment.
Although it was not announced, it is believed that this film will be submitted to be part of the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival, this coming December.
For the first time, the public heard Bossing Vic greet, “Hi, madlang-pipol,” and Vice greet, “What’s up, Dabarkads?”
“Kung naranasan ninyo ng mapanood ang pelikula ko na drama ng dalawang magkasunod na taon, tapos nagseryoso naman si Bossing Vic [The Kingdom, 2024], this year, hardcore-todo-comedy ang gagawin naming dalawa. Walang kaseryosohang proyekto. Ang seryoso lang dito ay yung tawa at halakhak nating lahat,” Vice Ganda shared.
Then, Vic Sotto added, “Pero bukod sa tawa at halakhak, nasisiguro namin na marami kayong mapupulot na aral.”
