2 Police Officers Face Charges Over Alleged Extramarital Relationship

Two police officers are facing criminal and administrative complaints over alleged extramarital relationship in Butuan City. 

The cops assigned to the Caraga region are facing charges following allegations that they were involved in an extramarital relationship despite both being married. 

The relationship was exposed after the husband of a female police officer allegedly discovered her inside a rented room with a male police officer in Butuan City. The incident later to the filing of complaints against the two officers.

According to the Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13), the female officer is facing an adultery complaint, while both officers are also the subject of administrative charges for alleged misconduct. 

Authorities said the complaints are now being processed and will undergo proper investigation. PRO-13 stressed that it does not tolerate any behavior that could damage the institution, especially actions that affect the values of marriage and family. 

The office emphasized that police officers are expected to uphold high standards of morality, integrity, and discipline both in their professional duties and personal lives.

Officials also reminded members of the police force that public trust depends not only on how they perform their jobs but also on how they conduct themselves outside of work. Maintaining good moral character remains an important requirement for those serving in law enforcement.

Brig. Gen. Marical Mariano Magistrado IV, director of PRO-13, assured the public that the investigation would be handled fairly and transparently. He said no special treatment would be given to any personnel involved in the case, regardless of rank or position. 

Authorities added that if the allegations are proven, the officers could face administrative penalties, including possible dismissal from the service, aside from any criminal liability that may arise from the case.
