Malacañang on Paolo Duterte’s Claim Marcos Jr. Admin Uses ICC as Political Weapon: “Huwag nating kalimutan ‘yung kaso nasampa ito 2017 pa”

Statement of Malacañang Over Alleged ICC Arrest Warrant vs. Sen. Bong Go

Malacañang reacted to the claim of Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte that the Marcos Jr. administration is allegedly weaponizing the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that he received an information that the ICC has released the arrest warrant against Sen. Bong Go and two (2) former police officials. The Senator is one of those who are tagged as the alleged co-perpetrators of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his administration’s anti-drugs campaign.

In his post, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that the Marcos Jr. administration is allegedly weaponizing the ICC against its political enemies. According to the son of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte who remains detained under the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands, the admin should allegedly stop from using the agencies of the government against its enemies in politics.

The younger Duterte further called on the government officials who allegedly allowed themselves to be used by the Marcos Jr. administration to reflect on what the admin can supposedly do to them once they are no longer serving them good if they can take to offer their allies.

Bongbong Marcos Jr.

“Nasa P18.49 trillion na ang utang ng Pilipinas at patuloy pa itong lumalaki…hindi na pera ng taumbayan ang ninanakaw, pati ang kinabukasan ng ating mga anak at apo ay nanganganib na…hanggang kailan ba tayo magpapakita ng pagkabulag at pagkabingi sa nangyayari sa ating bansa?” the Davao Congressman said.

Malacañang recently spoke on the claim of Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte that the Marcos Jr. admin is allegedly weaponizing the ICC against its political enemies. Based on News5, during an interview, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that there is a case against Sen. Bong Go which was filed by Filipino people themselves.

“Ang ICC korte po ito at meron namang kaso. May kaso na kapwa natin Pilipino ang nagsampa… Huwag nating kalimutan ‘yan. Pilipino rin po ang nagsampa ng kaso,” the Malacañang official said.

Atty. Claire Castro further claimed that if there will be a valid arrest warrant issued by the ICC, it is allegedly still valid and they just want accountability. Based on the post, the Malacañang press official also stressed that the case was filed in 2017 when

“Bakit natin sinisisi ang Korte? Sinisisi natin ang administrasyon. Huwag nating kalimutan ‘yung kaso nasampa ito 2017 pa. So hindi ito wini-weaponize. Kinakailangan lamang po na matugunan din ang hiling ng mga kababayan natin,” the Malacañang official said.

There is no confirmation yet if the ICC has indeed issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Bong Go. The foreign court has issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa who remains nowhere to be found now.

According to Sen. Robin Padilla, even if he knows the whereabouts of Sen. Bato dela Rosa, he won’t say it. He previously admitted that he was with Dela Rosa when the “ICC wanted” Senator exited the Senate premises during a controversial happening that was later on tagged as “fake”.
