Imee Marcos did not like the new Senate seating arrangement
Senator Imee Marcos received negative reactions for her “mukhang plunder” comment on the new Senate seating arrangement with Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
With the new Senate leadership, changes came after. Sen. Win Gatchalian is the new Senate President, replacing Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. With this, Cayetano and his allies are now the minority bloc.
Following this change, the seating arrangement also changed. A video of Sen. Imee circulated online, and this did not sit well with many netizens.
In the video, the sister of President Bongbong Marcos was slowly walking towards a table, which was supposed to be her assigned seat.
“Hello, ayoko dito,” Sen. Imee Marcos said and walked towards Sen. Camille Villar, who apparently asked “why?” Then, Marcos said, “Mukhang plunder.”
To recall, an arrest warrant was released against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on June 1, 2026, for plunder. He was allegedly involved in an anomalous flood control project in Bulacan. He is currently detained at the Quezon City Jail in Payatas. On June 16, 2026, the Sandiganbayan placed him under a 90-day suspension.

Meanwhile, in a recent statement, Sen. Imee Marcos encouraged the public to be vigilant amid the tension in the Senate over the flood control issue.
She said that threats and disrespect towards the Senate and constituents had been rampant. “Kahit anong gawin nilang tambling, circus at pagtatakip sa malalansa nilang gawain, Sumisingaw ang kanilang baho—baho na mula sa baha ng kanilang hindi mapatid na uhaw sa kaban ng bayan at kapangyarihan,” she said.
Prior to this, the female lawmaker also said that the Cayetano bloc was targeted with legal cases.
