Vico Sotto hoped for further progress on the flood control issue
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto expressed his hope that more individuals will be imprisoned who are connected to the anomalous flood control projects after the arrest of businessman Curlee Discaya.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, an arrest warrant was served against Discaya at the Senate, where he had been detained since September 2025 after he was cited in contempt.
The booking procedure, including the taking of mug shots and medical examination, was also held at the Senate before it was brought to the Malolos Regional Trial Court for the return of the warrant.
Following Curlee Discaya‘s arrest, Mayor Vico Sotto shared his thoughts through his Facebook post. To recall, the Pasig City Mayor was one of the first personalities who opened up about the anomalous flood control projects when Sarah Discaya, Curlee’s wife, ran against him in the mayoralty in the 2025 midterm elections.
“Sana mas marami pa ang makulong. Minsan nakakadismaya na ang mga nangyayari sa ating bansa; iniisip ko na lang na “at least” kahit papaano, may progreso. Just 1 year ago, most of us didn’t even know the level of corruption going on,” the mayor said.
In his post, Sotto also mentioned Congressman Martin Romualdez and former Congressman Zaldy, who were allegedly the masterminds of the flood control issue.
“Today, Curlee was arrested. Bukod kay Romualdez at Zaldy, maaaring ang mga Discaya na ang may pinakamalaking nakubra sa Flood Control Scandal,” the Pasig City Mayor said.
On the other hand, Sotto stressed that the flood control issue is not just the topic here, because this is just one of the evil deeds in a “broken system.” He also said that the problem will keep on repeating if corruption is normalized continuously.
“So let’s keep doing our part. Stay informed, exercise critical thinking, and keep pressuring the government. Siguraduhin nating hindi tayo magkakalimutan,” Mayor Vico Sotto urged the public.
