Grandmother Passes Away After Being Hit by Vehicle While Chasing Grandchild
A grandmother lost her life after being hit by a vehicle while trying to chase and protect her grandchild in Catmon, Cebu.
On the evening of April 13, 2026, a 61-year-old grandmother lost her life while trying to protect her grandchild. The incident happened along the national highway in Sitio Atabay, Barangay Macaas.
According to reports, the child suddenly ran across the road, putting their safety at risk as vehicles continued to pass by.
Without hesitation, the grandmother, identified as Leonisa, rushed after the child. Her quick action helped ensure that her grandchild was able to cross the highway safely. However, in the process, she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Initial findings from the police revealed that a yellow multicab pickup heading northbound hit the victim. The vehicle was driven by a 27-year-old man from Danao City. Due to the strong impact, the grandmother suffered serious injuries, especially to her head and body.
The elderly woman was immediately brought to the hospital, but sadly, she was declared dead on arrival.
