‘Sipsip Diesel’ Modus Suspects in Quezon City Surrender to Authorities

Two of the four men involved in ‘sipsip diesel’ modus in Quezon City have surrendered to authorities after being tracked down by a special investigation team.

The suspects were linked to a “siphoning diesel” scheme in Fairview, where fuel was illegally taken from a parked truck. The case was resolved quickly after police traced the plate number of the vehicle used in the crime.

The car was seen passing through Omega Avenue, which helped investigators identify its registered owner. From there, they were able to locate the second owner, a woman who had been renting out the vehicle for extra income.

The woman was surprised and upset after learning that her car had been used in an illegal activity. She shared that she worked hard to buy the vehicle and only rented it out to help cover daily expenses.

The victim had no idea that her partner, who was driving the car at the time, would use it for stealing diesel.

CCTV footage showed the suspects in action along Corvette Street in the early hours of March 31. The group reportedly siphoned around 70 liters of diesel from a truck. The stolen fuel was then sold in Barangay Payatas at a lower price to quickly earn cash.

The two suspects, both 26 years old, admitted that they turned to theft after losing money in online gambling. They said they needed to recover their losses, which led them to commit the crime.

“Kumuha po kami ng diesel… talo po sa sugal, online games po… binenta lang po namin,” the suspects said.

Police records revealed that one of the suspects had a previous theft case in Silang, Cavite involving the same method. Authorities also confirmed that they already know the identities of the two remaining suspects.

Although the two men surrendered, they were temporarily released due to procedural rules. However, a theft case will still be filed against them, while the vehicle used in the crime remains under police custody.
