PNP Apprehends Over 1,000 Individuals ‘Safer Metro Manila’ Operations

Over 1,000 individuals were apprehended in ‘Safer Metro Manila’ Operations held across Pasig, Pasay, and Taguig.

On April 7, 2026, the Philippine National Police launched a large-scale operation and flagged down more than 1,000 individuals. The effort was part of a coordinated campaign to strengthen safety and enforce local rules in Metro Manila.

The operation followed a directive to strictly implement city ordinances and address common violations in public spaces. Authorities focused on issues such as illegal drinking, smoking in public areas, loud disturbances, and curfew violations.

Safer Metro Manila

In Pasig City, particularly in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, a total of 604 individuals were apprehended. Many of them were caught for minor offenses, including smoking in public places.

Some admitted that while the rules are clear, habits are difficult to break, especially when it comes to smoking and drinking in open areas.

Meanwhile, in Pasay City, 136 individuals were arrested under a focused operation targeting different violations. These included drug-related offenses, existing arrest warrants, illegal gambling, and curfew breaches.

Police said the operation aimed to maintain peace and order, especially during nighttime hours.

Taguig City also recorded a large number of violators, with 272 individuals apprehended through separate police efforts. Most of those caught were involved in street drinking. There were also minors who violated curfew rules, as well as individuals seen walking outside without proper clothing. Others were flagged for smoking in public areas.

Authorities reminded the public that these rules are in place to ensure safety and discipline in communities. Those who cannot pay fines may instead be required to render community service, such as cleaning in their barangays.

Police assured that these operations will continue and are not just temporary efforts, as they aim to create safer and more orderly streets for everyone.
