Veteran actress Susan Africa took off her “Star for all Ubo” tag because of her new role as a doctor in the Kapamilya series Blood vs Duty.
Susan has done various roles in teleseryes and movies. Among the most remarkable character she portrayed was Susan in the 90s hit drama series Mara Clara, featuring Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.
In 2024, Susan went viral when her commercial for a cough medicine was released. She showcased her acting prowess by showing different kinds of “ubo” or cough.
In the video, she narrated what an actor had to do in certain scene that a character will cough. Through this advertisement, she was officially named as the Star for all Ubo, and it had also something to do with her past sickly characters.
However, just recently, netizens noticed that Susan Africa shed her title for her new role in a series featuring Kapamilya stars Gerald Anderson, Richard Gutierrez, Barbie Imperial, and Bela Padilla.
Based on the article in Balita, during the press conference for the new series, ABS-CBN entertainment reporter and host MJ Felipe asked Susan if her role in this project was also “inuubo.”
With a smile, the seasoned actress answered, “Ay hindi.” Susan was aware that there had been memes about her that circulated online.
“Maraming salamat sa suporta at patuloy na panonood. And yes, wala po akong ubo bilang Dra. Teresa Reyes,” the veteran actress said, adding that this was her first doctor role.
