Zanjoe Marudo Delivers Strong Message on Respect for Women
ZANJOE MARUDO – Actor Zanjoe Marudo recently spoke up about the issue of disrespect toward women, offering a firm reminder about how people should treat one another.
Actor Zanjoe Marudo recently voiced his thoughts on the importance of respecting women following the controversy involving Anne Curtis and businessman Bong Suntay, according to a report by Philstar Global. The issue sparked conversations online about how women are treated in public and in social settings, prompting several personalities to share their views.
Marudo addressed the topic during the special screening and media conference for his upcoming mini-series The Silent Noise, where he stars alongside actress Angelica Panganiban. Although he admitted that he did not expect to be asked about the controversy, the actor still offered a sincere and thoughtful response.
“Siyempre, hindi maganda na nababastos ang mga babae, ‘di ba?” says Marudo.
The actor emphasized that respect should always be practiced, not only toward women but toward every individual. For him, showing decency should not depend on personal relationships or whether someone has a connection to the person being disrespected.
“Lalo na sa kahit anong form. Hindi lang naman dahil may asawa ako o may mga kapatid akong babae, hindi lang naman babae, eh, lahat ng klase ng tao sa paligid mo,” he says.
During the media conference, Marudo was also asked how he might react if a similar incident happened to his wife, actress Ria Atayde. His first response was lighthearted, which drew laughter from members of the press.
“I don’t think may gagawa sa ‘kin nu’n,” says Marudo.
However, the actor later clarified that his reaction would ultimately depend on the situation and the context of what happened.
“Kung talagang mali, magre-react ka rin, ‘di ba?” he says.
He also pointed out that it is not easy to comment on certain issues without personally experiencing the circumstances involved.
“Depende. Mahirap magsalita nang wala ka naman du’n sa posisyon na ‘yun,” says Marudo.
Despite the discussion surrounding the controversy, Marudo reiterated that respect remains the most important principle in dealing with others in society.
Meanwhile, the actor also shared his excitement about his latest project, The Silent Noise. Marudo revealed that he immediately accepted the role because he found the storyline and character compelling.
He also expressed gratitude for being part of a groundbreaking project, noting that the series will stream on Amazon Prime Video. According to him, the platform will allow their work to reach viewers beyond the Philippines, giving Filipino stories and talent the chance to be seen by a wider international audience.
