Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Off To Meet UN Official To Discuss Middle East War

MARCOS JR. – The Philippine President has arrived in New York for a two-day working visit including a meeting with a United Nations official.

A Filipina caregiver lost her life due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Then, the Philippine President asked the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to seek for a safe shelter amid close airports, the unavailability of commercial flights, and the dangerous airspace conditions.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently criticized the alleged lack of urgency of the Marcos Jr. administration in repatriating the Filipinos from Middle East. She claimed that it is allegedly easy to do it through commercial flights.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos flew to New York for a two-day working visit. The country is left under the lead of Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Education Secretary Sonny Angara, kag Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III.

According to News5, Marcos Jr. has arrived in New York City for a two-day working visit. The President is scheduled to attend high-level meetings at the United Nations and promote the diplomatic priorities of the country. He is accompanied by his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

The Philippine President landed in New York on through a chartered flight and his visit will run until March 11. It is focused on strengthening the role of the country in international diplomacy and addressing pressing global concerns.

Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to to talk about peace and security amid heightened Middle East tension. Furthermore, he is also set to deliver remarks at the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. The Chief Executive is set to highlight the country’s commitment to advancing women’s rights and empowerment.

Moreover, the 2-day working visit of the Philippine President in New York also eyes the country’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028. Based on the post, he is expected to rally support from member states by emphasizing PH’s longstanding contributions to peacekeeping and the country’s advocacy for adherence to international law to invite investors.

“Sa naturang schedule, ang Pangulo ay sa ikalawang araw pa lang sa kanyang working visit dito… sa Amerika. May mga karagdagang schedule pa ang Pangulo sa ikatlong araw sa kanyang working visit,” Malacañang said.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos allegedly missent a message to her at 2:00 o’clock in the morning then. Her remarks came amid the rift between her and the Marcos couple.
