Rabiya Mateo shared that she received indecent proposals
Kapuso actress Rabiya Mateo revealed how she handled the indecent proposals she received when she entered the entertainment industry.
Rabiya rose to fame when she won Miss Universe Philippines 2020. After her reign, she signed a contract with GMA Network and started doing some acting and hosting stints.
Previously, Rabiya made a heartfelt revelation about her mental health condition. She revealed that she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder with anxious distress.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, Rabiya Mateo was asked if she received indecent proposals. She said that during her beauty queen days, there was none because she thought that she was still so young at that time.
“Hindi ako nagkaroon ng indecent proposals noong Miss Universe Philippines ako, siguro dahil mukha akong nene,” she shared. However, this changed when she formally entered the entertainment industry.
One thing that shocked her was the fact that those who offered indecent proposals were already married.
“Some of these people alam mong may asawa sila. Ang taas ng tingin mo sa kanila. Pero para mabasag ko, even the temptation to say yes, kinukwento ko kaagad sa mga kaibigan ko,” she shared.
Rabiya also said that she told her ex-boyfriend about this. She would tell him she had received a message from someone who said certain things. That was how she stayed away from the indecent proposals. Rabiya even said that she would just be pressed down into depression if she allowed those indecent proposals get into her system.
The Kapuso actress also said that when she would enter this kind of setup, it would break her mom’s heart. She revealed that this was her mom’s reason for being apprehensive about her showbiz career.
“Kasi natatakot siyang uutuin daw ako ng mga artistang may asawa,” she shared. Rabiya Mateo also shared that an older guy who is not Filipino, 46, courted her when she was 28.
“Pogi, kamukha siya ni Richard Gere. ‘Yung hair white na pero he’s good-looking, ang galing magsalita, businessman. Kapag kasama ko siya, he’s very well accomplished eh,” she revealed.
However, the Kapuso actress said that it was hard to establish a relationship with the guy since he is from Miami. She thought that a long-distance relationship would not work for them.
