Aiko Melendez shared a post about VP Sara Duterte
Actress and councilor of Quezon City from the 5th district, Aiko Melendez, showed support for the presidential aspiration of Vice President Sara Duterte.
On February 18, VP Sara held a media conference announcing her desire to run for president in the 2028 elections. Her announcement received various reactions. Critics of the Vice President bashed her and expressed negative reactions.
Her allies showed support for her, such as Senator Robin Padilla and Senator Imee Marcos. Political experts also have different views. Some said that it was too early for her to announce her political plans for the next elections, while others said it was strategic.
In a Facebook post, Aiko Melendez, a known ally of VP Sara Duterte, showed her support as well.
“Inday Sara Duterte for President 2028,” she wrote in her post, adding that she knew people would attack her because of this. However, the actress-politician stressed that she has been a pro-Duterte ever since and that she is not ashamed of this.
“Tahimik akong nagtratrabaho. Hindi ako naninira. Hindi ako nakikisawsaw sa personalan o panlalait ng mga kalaban. Para sa akin, hindi ingay at galit ang sukatan ng liderato kundi gawa, prinsipyo, at paninindigan,” Aiko wrote.
Then, she shared the basis of her support for VP Sara. “Trabaho, hindi puro salita, Tapang, hindi palusot, Disiplina, hindi pa-impress, At higit sa lahat, takot sa Diyos,” the actress-politician enumerated.
Aiko also believed that when a leader has clear principles, cares about the people, and is accountable to God, that is where true service comes from.
She added that no one is perfect, but what is important is being true, steadfast, and willing to stand up even when what you stand for receives opposing reactions from others.
“Hindi ito tungkol sa kulay o pangalan. Ito ay tungkol sa direksyon ng bansa. At sa direksyong iyon, malinaw sa akin kung sino ang pinaniniwalaan ko. Sara Duterte for President 2028. Paninindigan. Serbisyo. Pananampalataya,” Aiko Melendez stressed.
