From Pageant Queen to Actress, Catriona Gray Spills Truth About Working With Anne and Jericho
CATRIONA GRAY – Stepping into her first acting role, Catriona Gray candidly shared what it was like working alongside two of the biggest names in Philippine cinema.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray had nothing but praise for her co-stars Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales as she talked about her experience working with them in her first-ever acting project, The Loved One, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Irene Villamor.
Gray opened up about her transition from pageantry to acting during a media interview at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) press conference held on Tuesday, January 21. The event became an opportunity for the beauty queen to reflect on the excitement and pressure she felt while stepping into a new creative territory.
“[T]o even be considered for that participation in that film, I was really happy. But also pressured,” Catriona shared, admitting that the opportunity came with high expectations.
She further expressed her desire to prove herself as a newcomer in the acting world, saying, “I really wanted to do a good job. I don’t want to be the weakest link in the film..”
Determined to deliver a strong performance, Gray revealed that she underwent two to three acting workshops to prepare for her role. The training helped her gain confidence and better understand the demands of acting, especially since The Loved One marks her official debut on the big screen.
When asked about her experience working alongside seasoned actors Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales, Catriona did not hesitate to commend both stars.
“They were so fantastic,” she said, highlighting how welcoming and supportive her co-actors were throughout the production.
She also shared her familiarity with the two, noting, “Of course, I see Anne a lot in events like this. And for Echo, I’m not really familiar with her. We’ve run into each other in a few events. But they were both so kind,” emphasizing the professionalism and warmth she experienced on set.
The Loved One centers on the story of two former lovers who unexpectedly reunite and are forced to confront unresolved issues from their past. The emotionally charged narrative promises heartfelt performances and a reflective look at love, loss, and second chances.
The teaser trailer for the film was released on Monday, January 19, giving audiences a first glimpse of the much-anticipated project. The full movie is set to hit theaters on February 11, marking a significant milestone in Catriona Gray’s evolving career.
