Statement of Malacañang on 2026 National Budget Approved by Marcos Jr.
Malacañang claimed that the Marcos Jr. administration is confident that the 2026 budget is allegedly the “cleanest and most proper” spending law passed.
Last January 5, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the proposed P6.79 trillion budget for 2026 during a ceremonial signing held at the Palace. It came after the country operated on a reenacted budget on the first week of the year.
Malacañang previously claimed that Marcos Jr. spent a working Christmas holiday most especially for the review of the proposed national budget. According to the Palace, the President wants to see the difference between the original allocations in the National Expenditure Program (NEP) and the budget approved by the bicameral conference commission.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos worked with a review committee in checking the 2026 national budget approved by the bicam. According to House Speaker Bojie Dy, they will make sure that every peso in the 2026 national budget “is spent exactly as approved”. He stressed that the government funds should go to the people.
This 2026, the bicam-approved proposed budget for the Department of Public Works and Highways is over P300 billion lower compared with the proposed amount in the NEP. The reduced fund came amid the flood control mess in the country.
Despite the lowered budget for the DPWH, the budget allocation for the department is still the second biggest fund allocation in the 2026 national budget. Here are the budget allocations for the different key departments in the government:
- Department of Education — P1.015 trillion
- Department of Public Works and Highways — P530.9 billion
- Department of Health — P448.1 billion
- Department of the Interior and Local Government — P310.5 billion
- Department of National Defense — P310.0 billion
- Department of Agriculture — P297.1 billion
- Department of Social Welfare and Development — P270.2 billion
- Department of Transportation — P141.0 billion
- Department of Labor and Employment — P73.6 billion
- Judiciary — P70.6 billion
Recently, Malacañang spoke on the 2026 national budget approved by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that the Marcos Jr. admin is confident that the national fund is allegedly the “cleanest and most proper” spending law passed.
“Confident po sila na ang ginawa ngayong budget ay ang pinaka malinis, pinakamaayos na ginawa para sa taumbayan,” the Malacañang official said.
Based on the report, with regards to the questions over the 2026 national budget, the Palace official claimed that they have the right to go to the Supreme Court and ask about the constitutionality of the budget.
“Tingnan na lang natin kung ano ang magiging desisyon ng Korte Suprema,” Castro added.

- Budgetary Support for Government Owned and Controlled Corporations: P6.895 billion
- Prior Years’ Local Government Unit Shares: P14.623 million
- Insurance of Government Assets and Interests: P2 billion
- Payment of Personnel Services Requirements: P43.245 billion
- CARS Program (Automotive Industry Support): P4.32 billion
- RACE Program (Automotive Industry Competitiveness): P250 million
- Government Counterpart for Certain Foreign-Assisted Projects: P35.77 billion
Previously, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto also spoke about his confidence on the 2026 national budget.
