DOTR 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is offering free rides, and here’s the schedule.
In a social media post, rail lines in Metro Manila announced that there will be free rides to various sectors this holiday season. This “Libreng Sakay” program will start this weekend, and there’s a catch that caught the attention of many people online.

The Department of Transportation announced that there will be 12 days of “libreng sakay” (free rides) on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 and Metro Rail Transit 3. The program will start on December 14 until December 25, Christmas Day. This complies with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure a safe and convenient travel experience for commuters during the holiday season.
Based on the schedule, senior citizens will get free rides on December 14 on MRT-3, LRT-2, and LRT-1. On the following days, in order, students, OFWs and their families, teachers and health workers, persons with disabilities and male passengers, government employees, female passengers, families (regardless of the number of members), solo parents and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, private sector employees and “kasambahays” (house helpers), uniformed personnel, veterans, and their families, and all passengers follow.
