MRT-3 Resumes Normal Operations and Offers Free Rides for the Day

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) offers free rides for the day as it resumes its normal operation after experiencing an early disruption.

On Tuesday morning (November 18, 2025), MRT-3 returned to normal operations after experiencing an early disruption that affected thousands of commuters. By 8:00 AM.

The Department of Transportation announced that trains were once again running smoothly, reaching their maximum operating speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

The unexpected issue happened around 5:56 AM between the Santolan and Ortigas southbound interstation. Because of this, MRT-3 had to limit its operations starting at 6:30 AM, causing delays and longer waiting times for passengers heading to work and school.

Many commuters had to adjust their travel plans as trains moved slower than usual. To make up for the inconvenience, MRT-3 offered free rides for the entire day. This gesture was their way of easing the frustration of passengers who were affected by the temporary disruption.

The free ride announcement was warmly welcomed by many riders who were relieved to still reach their destinations without the added cost.

By 8:05 AM, trains were fully operational again, running normally from North Avenue Station all the way to Taft Avenue Station and back. Commuters reported smoother trips and shorter queues as the system regained its regular pace.

MRT-3 expressed its apology to the public, acknowledging the hassle caused by the early morning interruption. They assured passengers that they are continuously working to maintain the reliability and safety of the rail system.

Despite the temporary delay, the rest of the day went well for most riders, thanks to the restored operations and the free rides provided. Many commuters appreciated the quick response and hoped for more improvements to prevent similar issues in the future.
