Inside Kuya Kim Atienza’s Silent Struggle: The Agony of Losing His Daughter

Kuya Kim Atienza’s Heartbreaking Confession: A Father’s Pain Over Losing His Daughter Emman

KIM ATIENZA – The ever-strong TV host Kuya Kim Atienza showed a side rarely seen by the public — that of a father broken by grief, holding on to faith after his daughter’s passing.

In an emotional episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, TV host and weather anchor Kuya Kim Atienza revealed the deepest pain he has ever endured — the loss of his beloved daughter, Emman. Known for his strength and positivity, Kuya Kim dropped his public persona and spoke as a grieving father, baring his heartbreak for the world to see.

“We know that Emman is sick and she had a few attempts in the past. And my prayer to the Lord every single day was for this not to happen — for Emman to be safe, for Emman to be happy, for Emman to heal. Yet this happened…” he said, his voice breaking as he recalled his daily prayers. The raw emotion in his tone reflected the agony of every parent who has ever begged God to protect their child.

Despite his unwavering faith, Kuya Kim admitted that grief is unpredictable. “I’m good, pero grief comes in waves eh — minsan bumabagsak, ngayon okay ako. Ayoko mag-isa dahil kung mag-isa ako, medyo mabigat.” His words struck a chord with many who understand that mourning never follows a straight path.

He described Emman as a strong, loving, and cheerful daughter who carried her pain quietly behind a brave smile. “I raised very strong kids. Well, even Emman I thought was very strong, but I didn’t know that deep inside she was also suffering.”

Emman had become an advocate for mental health, openly speaking about her struggles through TikTok and interviews. “She kept on talking about it openly with passion… That is why we thought she was okay — because despite her pain, she was reaching out.”

Days before her passing, Emman sent a message saying she needed therapy. “Emman texted her mommy… ‘Mom, I’m in emergency right now… I need to go to a therapy center.’” But the next day, they received the devastating call. “Felli said, ‘Emman’s gone.’ Sabi ko, ‘Lord, dasal ko ’to araw-araw. Why?’”

Through tears, Kuya Kim shared his faith that Emman’s death has a divine purpose. “I know that nothing happens as an accident… Emman did not die in vain.”

His message resonates deeply: grief is not weakness, but proof of love that transcends life itself.
