Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes Speaks on Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s ICC Case

ANTONIO TRILLANES – The former Senator reacted to the claim of Vice President Sara Duterte that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was allegedly found unconscious inside his room inside the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands since March. The former Chief Executive is charged with three (3) counts of murder “as crimes against humanity” by the ICC prosecution team.

The ICC has yet to decide on the interim release plea of the former President. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that a “third country” has committed to host the interim release of former Pres. Duterte if the court grants it.

The confirmation of charges hearing of the former President was postponed after his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, claimed that his client is allegedly “not fit to stand trial” supposedly due to a ‘cognitive impairment’.

Kaufman asked the ICC to adjourn all legal proceedings with regards to Duterte’s case indefinitely. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was allegedly found unconscious in his ICC detention room and was brought to the hospital but his camp was not informed about it.

Recently, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes who was one of the staunch critics of the Duterte administration reacted to the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that her father was allegedly found unconscious in his ICC detention room. The former Senator called it as a “drama”.

“Hindi ka pwede magdrama drama diyan sa mga doktor diyan. Alam nila kasi tumatawag siya sa telepono eh every day. So lucid siya eh… So mabilis mabisto yung ganyang drama,” Trillanes said.

Furthermore, based on a post of TV Patrol on social media, Sen. Antonio Trillanes also claimed that the recent defenses of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s camp is allegedly an “alibi”. He stressed that there are several evidence against the former Chief Executive.

“Mga witnesses dun sa actual incidents, may mga participants, mga napag-utusan, mga mag-aattest to the veracity of the documents… Hindi bababa sa isandaan, kasi marami yan eh. Tapos libo yung dokumento, libong pahina… mga dokumentong laban sa kanila kaya nga alibi na lang ginagawa eh,” the former Senator said based on the post.

Recently, the senators voted on a resolution urging the chamber to call for a house arrest former Pres. Duterte. Fifteen (15) senators voted in support of the resolution while three (3) senators were against it. Sen. Risa Hontiveros is one of the senators who voted “no” on the Senate resolution over the call for Duterte’s house arrest.
