Richard Gomez had an accusation against media people

Leyte’s 4th District Representative Richard Gomez apologized to the media people after he exposed their private messages and contact numbers.

Gomez is now a veteran in the field of politics. He served as Ormoc City Mayor for several years. He is currently serving as a congressman in the home province of his wife Lucy Torres, who is the current Ormoc City Mayor.

As part of his political career, as it happened also during his active years in the entertainment industry, media people or the press would reach out to him for interviews about certain topics or issues.

However, just recently, Cong. Richard Gomez shared a post on his Facebook Page exposing the private messages he received from media people. The contact information of those media people were included in the screenshots he posted.

The actor-turned-politician alleged that there was someone who was orchestrating “media spin” against him. He pointed out that he received messages from media people with the same content and almost at the same time. It was about the accusation of Matag-ob Mayor Bernie Tacoy againt him that he was neglecting the town every time flooding happens.

Tacoy also accused Gomez of being involved in a flood control project in a barangay where a structure collapsed during a strong rainfall.

In his speech during the House of Representatives’ First Regular Session on September 2, Gomez apologized to the media people for sharing screenshots of tehir private messages that also exposed their contact numbers, based on the report from GMA News.

To the members of the press, who took offense in my social media post, I sincerely apologize. Sensitve information has been removed,” he said.

Richard Gomez also said that he understood the intention of the media to take his side of the story and that he acknowledged their efforts. “I’m sorry. I’ve could have handled it better,” the congressman added.
