Former actress Kim delos Santos is currently based in the United States and works as a nurse there. Before this life abroad, she was an actress in the Philippines, and despite the glam and fame she already had in the show business industry, she still left to pursue and start a different one in the US.
In an interview with Snooky Serna, she confessed that the journey was far from easy. She faced the challenge of rebuilding her life from scratch while living abroad. Her reason for leaving the Philippines? Her former husband, Dino Guevarra. She felt the need to step away from those circumstances to allow herself to grow.
Did she regret the decision she made? According to her, she never had any regrets. She shared, “No. Kasi I was able to experience my family. Bumalik ako sa family ko kasi di ba matigas ang ulo ko. Amindo naman po ako. I learned through experience.”
What made starting over hard back then was her lack of a college degree. She worked in different fields to survive, such as mopping floors and being a receptionist. Looking at her miserable situation, an idea snapped back at her, bringing back her long-time dream of becoming a nurse.
She shared how she reached a point where she reassessed her entire life and decided to move forward by seeking her father’s help. Swallowing her pride, she took this step to create a better future for herself.
Her father was happy about it and helped her until she graduated. In return, she finished her course with honors. She shared, “Tuwang-tuwa ang tatay ko… My dad would worked overtime hangga’t maka-graduate ako and sinigurado kong ga-graduate ako [na] may honors.”
