Maris Racal is happy with the success of her latest movie
Kapamilya actress Maris Racal reacted to the domestic and international success of her movie Sunshine.
The movie is about the journey of a young gymnast who had to handle her unexpected pregnancy while preparing for her tryout for the national gymnastics team.
Her character was full of dreams and anticipation of what could be next for her. However, she was put in a situation wherein she had to choose between her dream to be a professional gymnast and being a mother.
Sunshine was recognized internationally. It was featured in different international film festivals. Last July, cinemas in the Philippines started catering to this film, which was directed by Antoinette Jadaone, who revealed that Maris Racal’s ex-boyfriend Rico Blanco was the one who did the musical scoring.
In a recent interview, based on the article in the Inquirer, Maris shared, “We actually premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the film traveled internationally. It hopped from one continent to another, and we won at the Berlinale. We’re very grateful.“
The actress also said that this goes to show that loving our own can open doors of opportunities in the international scene. She is thankful for everyone who has supported this project.
“It just goes to show that Filipino stories are very well celebrated. The only way to go international is to go local, love our own roots, art, stories, and I want to thank everyone for watching ‘Sunshine,’” Maris Racal said.
Meanwhile, Maris had this statement that caught the attention of her fans just recently. It was about the possibility of working with Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza. Their fans got excited when a teaser of a potential project in the future was released.
“Barbie what if… work tayo,” Maris suggested, and Barbie replied, “What if… game.”
