PAGASA Says Intertropical Convergence Zone to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (April 21, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over southern Mindanao.

And because of that ITCZ, expect high chances of cloudy conditions in most parts of the Mindanao area and rain showers mostly in the southern portion of Mindanao,” Torres added.

Based on our satellite animation, we are seeing cloud clusters here in parts of Mindanao—that is the intertropical convergence zone,” Torres said.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

No tropical cyclones are expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the next few days.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboard.
