ABS-CBN actor Jericho Rosales calls himself the boyfriend of Janine Gutierrez during the wake of icon Pilita Corrales.
“Asia’s Queen of Songs,” Pilita Corales died, but no cause of death has been revealed. According to her children, she died in her sleep.
Throughout her six-decade career, Pilita recorded over 130 albums in different languages, including Filipino, English, Spanish, and Cebuano. Songs like A Million Thanks to You, Usahay, Matud Nila, and Kapantay ay Langit became classics that continue to be played today.
During her wake, Jericho Rosales was present. He was the alleged boyfriend of Janine Gutierrez, Pilita’s granddaughter. However, recently, the allegation was put to an end as the actor himself did it.
In his tribute speech, he expressed that he was there to support an amazing family. He described them as a large, tight-knit family, and he is just honored to spend time with them because he is “Janine’s boyfriend.”
“If you want a definition of a family, this is the family. And I’ve been so honored to just, you know, I’ve been spending time with them because I’m Janine’s boyfriend…” he said.
He finally put it out there, but more than this, he felt honored to be there because of his mother.
According to him, his mother has Alzheimer’s disease, and she sings a lot. The songs she sings are those of Pilita.
He said, “So I always say that her songs just go beyond memory because it’s embedded in her heart. Every time Janine goes to the house, mag-iiyakan sila ng forty-five minutes because Mama would sing Pilita Corrales’s songs to her. And they’ll just cry. And so, I just let them cry.”
To recall, it was last year when Jericho and Janine confirmed that they were dating.
