Vico Sotto revealed that there was a “petition for disqualification” against him
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto reacted to the disqualification case filed against him by Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II, the husband of his opponent Sarah Discaya.
Mayor Vico is seeking reelection for his third term as the mayor of Pasig. He has been receiving praise and admiration for how he is governing his constituents. Just recently, a survey was released showing that he is the most trusted mayor in Metro Manila.
Despite his “good governance” and the good changes he brought to the city, Vico Sotto still can’t please everybody. The son of showbiz veterans Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes has been answering the allegations against him.
One of the recent issues he answered through his Facebook post was the “Petition for Disqualification”.
“Sabi niya “misinformation” daw yung sa St Timothy, kahit pareho naman kaming sinasabi ng Comelec Chairman na mismo. Sinisi niya rin ako sa mga post ng iba’t ibang tao sa social media – nagbabasa pala siya ng Reddit,” Mayor Vico Sotto said.
The Pasig Mayor also stressed that speaking about grounds for disqualification, he is the one who has the right to file this. He cited one good reason for this.
“Dahil ginamit niya pa diumano ang kanyang British Passport ngayong 2025 lamang. (To affirm your British citizenship by using your UK/British passport AFTER filing your certificate of candidacy constitutes a continuing “act of allegiance” to a foreign state, and is not allowed under Philippine election law.),” the Mayor revealed.
He added that back in January, he already had the flight details. However, he did not file a disqualification against his opponent because he does not want her to be disqualified to show that Pasig City is already done with the traditional politics, corruption, and overspending during elections.
Mayor Vico Sotto also shared information about Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II. He said that the husband of his opponent is the second nominee of “Pinoy A.K.O (Adhikain ng Katutubo at Obrero) Partylist” and the first nominee is Sarah Discaya’s brother, Christian Cruz. “Hangad nilang maging boses ng mga KATUTUBO sa kongreso…” the mayor added.
