Here’s How Joey Marquez & Alma Moreno Reacted To Winwyn Marquez’s Pageant Comeback
WINWYN MARQUEZ – Here’s how Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno reacted to Winwyn Marquez’s exciting return to the pageant stage after a decade-long break.
Actress Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez revealed that she had already decided to accept the offer to represent Muntinlupa City in the 2025 Miss Universe Philippines pageant before informing her parents, Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, of her return to pageantry after 10 years.
Her first pageant experience was in the 2015 Binibining Pilipinas competition at the age of 22. Now, at 32 and a mother to a 2-year-old, Marquez is excited to share her journey as a fulfilled parent.

Based on a report from Inquirer, Winwyn Marquez shared that her father has always been hesitant about her joining pageants. After her early success, including placing in the Bb. Pilipinas semifinals and later winning the Reina Hispanoamericana title, she continued to compete in other pageants. However, when she told her father about her return, he advised her not to join for fame or winning alone, but if she had conviction and wanted to inspire others, then she should go for it. For the first time, her father supported her decision to participate, emphasizing that the pageant was about using the platform to share her story, not just winning. Marquez was deeply moved by his words and appreciated his unconditional support.
On the other hand, her mother, Alma Moreno, has always been a supportive “stage mom.” When Marquez shared her decision to compete, her mother was thrilled, constantly asking if she needed anything and eagerly waiting for updates.

For her return to the pageant scene, Marquez is focused on adapting to how the industry has changed over the years, particularly with the rise of social media. Unlike her earlier pageant days, Marquez now actively engages with her followers through updates, sneak peeks, and glamour posts. She is still learning and enjoying the process, appreciating the ongoing opportunity to grow in her pageant journey.
Marquez aims to follow in the footsteps of Chelsea Manalo, the current Miss Universe Philippines, and hopes to represent the country on the global stage once again, bringing pride to the Philippines with another international crown. While the date for the coronation of the next Miss Universe Philippines has not been set, the competition is expected to be tougher with many experienced pageant veterans in the running.
