Taxi Driver Sparks Outrage for Blocking Pedestrian Lane in Manila
A taxi driver in Manila earns criticism from pedestrians and motorists alike for parking on a pedestrian lane in Manila.
On February 12, 2025 (Wednesday), a lot of motorists and pedestrians lambasted a taxi driver for obstructing people crossing in front of Robinsons Manila in Ermita. The post garnered various reactions from the netizens.
The Facebook page “Parkeserye,” known for posting improper parking practices, posted the report submitted by a frustrated pedestrian. The complainant explained how they had to maneuver around the parked taxi multiple times while attempting to cross the pedestrian lane.
Despite politely asking the driver to move and reminding him not to block the path, the taxi driver responded with anger and foul language. The complainant took a photo of the driver and his vehicle, the driver smugly posed, further escalating the situation.
The taxi, with plate number WIR 422, became the subject of online ire as netizens expressed frustration over the lack of discipline among some public transport drivers.
Many Filipinos tagged the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to address the issue. The LTO, responsible for issuing driver’s licenses, and the LTFRB, which oversees public transport operations, were urged to summon the taxi driver and investigate his behavior.

Naka-ilang beses po akong tumawid dyan sa pedestrian lane na yan at iniiwasan po siya ng mga pedestrian na hindo makatawid ng maayos. Nuong sitahin ko po at pinagsabihan na “Kuya, huwag nyo pong harangan ang pedestrian”, aba nagalit at pinagmumura pa po ako.
