Police Authorities Arrest 2 Akyat-Bahay Suspects in Quezon City
Two akyat-bahay suspects involved in burglary were arrested by the police after a follow-up operation in Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City.
The suspects, aged 21 and 23, were caught after a chase that happened following a robbery incident. The victim, who was renting an apartment, woke up to strange noises. Upon investigating, the victim found the suspects in the apartment.
As soon as the suspects saw the victim, they immediately fled, taking a mini vault and a pouch containing money and jewelry. According to the police, the suspects gained access through the front door, which they broke open.
“Nung na-check niya andoon ‘yung mga suspect. Syempre nagkitaan ‘yung dalawa tumakbo na agad agad ‘yung mga suspect bitbit ‘yung mini vault then yung pouch na may lamang pera at alahas. Base sa imbestigasyon namin sir pumasok sila through ‘yung main door sinira nila ‘yung door knob then pumasok sila may mga kandado sa cabinet sinira rin nila,” Novaliches Police station commander Police Lt. Col. Aljun Belista said.
Once inside, they also destroyed the locks on a cabinet to steal from it. The stolen items included P110,000 in cash and jewelry and watches worth P68,000. Authorities were able to recover some of these items during their investigation.
It was later discovered that this wasn’t the first time the suspects had been in trouble with the law. One of them had a case related to illegal drugs, while the other had multiple charges for theft, robbery, and illegal gambling.
Both suspects denied their involvement in the crime. The 21-year-old suspect claimed he didn’t know anything about the robbery, while the 23-year-old refused to comment. As a result, the suspects were charged with robbery and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
The authorities are determined to ensure justice for the victims and hold the suspects accountable for their actions.
