PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan Will Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported fair weather conditions over parts of the country.

On Saturday (November 23, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that easterlies will affect most parts of the country. The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga del Norte, and Palawan.

We can see in our latest satellite images these thick clouds over Northern and Eastern Mindanao as well as the eastern section of Visayas and some areas of Palawan, is a continued effect of the easterlies,” Villamil said.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains expected over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

“Expect high chances of overcast skies and scattered rain showers, lightning, and thunder this Saturday,” he explained.

The easterlies will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Fairweather condition is expected over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, as well as Kalayaan Islands.

“Hot and humid conditions but there is a high chance of thunderstorm activity around afternoon through evening,” he added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the Extreme Northern Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions over the remaining parts of the country, according to PAGASA.
