Teen in Manila Lost His Life After Alleged Beating by SK Official & Companion

Teen Dies After Allegedly Mauled by SK Official & Companion During Intense Confrontation

A teen in Manila dies after allegedly being beaten by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official and his companion.

A 15-year-old boy named Lei lost his life after allegedly being attacked by an SK official and a friend, who is reportedly the son of another barangay officer in Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila.

The initial dispute reportedly began when Lei’s group was accused of disrespecting the girlfriend of the SK official. Lei and a friend had approached the barangay to report a prior incident where the SK official had allegedly harassed another minor from their group.

CCTV footage showed the SK official approaching Lei, suddenly punching him without warning. Lei and his friend attempted to escape, but the SK official pursued them, eventually catching up with Lei in front of a store on F. Manalo Street.

At this point, the SK official, joined by another young man wearing a tank top, allegedly attacked Lei. Other barangay personnel in the video appeared to be attempting to break up the fight.

After the beating, Lei collapsed, losing consciousness. The two suspects left the scene, briefly chasing Lei’s friend, who was also reportedly attacked. Shortly after, the suspects returned to check on Lei, then walked away.

Another CCTV footage captured residents and barangay officials carrying Lei to the hospital, where he was later declared dead. An autopsy confirmed that Lei died from traumatic head injuries.

Both suspects were apprehended by the barangay chairman, who expressed regret over the incident and shared that the SK official claimed he acted impulsively. Lei’s family, however, disputes the accusations against Lei and his friends, pointing out that those allegedly involved were dressed differently from the group accused of harassment.

The family is now seeking accountability from barangay authorities, as they believe Lei’s concerns were not promptly addressed. Barangay officials maintain they responded quickly, as shown in CCTV footage.
