Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on Senate Inquiry on Duterte’s War on Drugs

BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator claimed that former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to attend a probe on the drug war of his administration.

Currently, the investigation of the Duterte drug war is ongoing in the House of Representatives. The House Quad Committee has formally invited former Pres. Duterte into the investigation but the former Chief Executive has yet to respond on the invitation.

According to the Philippine National Police, the invitation was received by the former President as the House QuadComm really made sure that either Duterte himself or his representative receives the invitation. The PNP said that the invitation was received by his representative.

The Senate is also set to start a probe on the Duterte drug war. This came after Senator Bato dela Rosa expressed an intent to launch a probe on the Duterte war on drugs. The said remarks earned negative reactions from a lot of people.

According to former Sen. Leila de Lima, it is a laughing stuff if Dela Rosa who is accused in the drug war investigation will also question during the probe. The Senator who served as the chief of the PNP during the Duterte administration expressed his confidence that the former President will attend the probe most especially if he is the inviter.

Furthermore, Dela Rosa claimed that Duterte is more comfortable in the Senate than in the House of Representatives. Recently, the former PNP Chief confirmed that the former Chief Executive will be attending the Senate probe on his admin’s war on drugs.

“The former President told me that he is going to attend the Senate hearing regardless of who is presiding,” Dela Rosa said.

Based on a report on GMA News, the Senate hearing on the war on drugs will be presided by Senate minority leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel. Aside from Duterte, the other people who will be invited in the probe includes the following:

  • Retired Police Colonel Royina Garma
  • Former National Police Commission commissioner Edilberto Leonardo
  • Former Senator Leila de Lima
  • Kerwin Espinosa
  • Families of drug war victims
