PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the enhanced southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Saturday (September 21, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The enhanced southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Igme left the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Igme was last spotted 520 km north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
The weather disturbance is moving northwestward at 40 kph and is expected to bring heavy to intense rainfall over Batanes on Saturday night.
Igme is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the extreme eastern portion of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Zambales.
Strong to gale-force gusts are also expected over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Zambales.
Monsoon rains are expected over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Flash floods or landslides are possible due to heavy and intense rains.
Habagat will also bring occasional rains over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. It will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Visayas. The localized thunderstorms over Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the seaboards of Batanes, Zambales, Babuyan Islands, Bataan, Kalayaan Islands, and mainland Cagayan will be rough. The seaboards of Isabela and Lubang Island will have moderate surrounding sea conditions.
The remaining parts of the archipelago will have slight to moderate waters.
“Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels,” PAGASA said.
