Vendors in Naga City Got Into Disagreement After Restricted to Set Up Their Stalls Over During Peñafrancia Fiesta
Several vendors in Naga City have a disagreement after they were told not to set up their stalls inside the plazas during the Peñafrancia Fiesta.
The restriction was put in place to keep the plazas free for visitors to rest and move around easily.
Ramon Florendo, head of the Market Enterprise and Promotion Office (MEPO), shared that these types of issues often happen during busy festivals like this. The rule is that vendors aren’t allowed to operate inside the plazas because those areas are meant for people to relax.
To ensure this, MEPO staff and barangay officials from central areas like Dinaga, Abella, San Francisco, and Sta. Cruz have been closely monitoring the situation. In one instance in Sta. Cruz, some vendors had to be moved because they were blocking pathways, making it hard for people to pass through.
While there have been a few complaints about this rule, authorities have dealt with them quickly, and there haven’t been any major problems so far.
The city has also been focusing on keeping the market areas clean, especially the Naga City People’s Mall. MEPO is working with the Naga Water Stall Holders Federation to make sure the market remains tidy and that the food sold is fresh.
To help people during the festival, the city has also set up five help desks. These desks are there to offer first aid and assist anyone who needs information or help. This makes it easier for people to get the support they need during the festival.
With these efforts, the Peñafrancia Fiesta is running smoothly, balancing both the needs of vendors and the public.
