Sara Duterte To President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.: “Hindi kami magkaibigan”

Vice President Sara Duterte said she was never friends with the president.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte are accordingly never friends based on what the latter has said.

2022 National elections tandem President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte were accordingly never friends. This is based on the statement recently expressed by the vice president during an interview, on September 18, Wednesday.

As much as we all know, the conflict between the Philippines’ Marcos and Duterte families has increased. However, the president was mum, possibly because of his ‘gratitude debt’ belief as his 2022 presidential campaign was boosted by Duterte’s presidential race withdrawal.

It was First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos who was more transparent in disdain for the Duterte family. They were once the UniTeam promoting unity among the Filipino people, what happened now?

“Hindi kami magkaibigan…”

In a recent interview, Duterte expressed that she’s not friends with the current president during an ambush interview with House reporters.

“Hindi naman kasi kami talaga nagkausap niyan. Hindi kami magkaibigan,” Duterte said and added that they only met because they were running mates. Prior to being running mates, they only talked during campaigns as part of their work.

She, however, shared that she has close ties with Senator Imee Marcos, the president’s sister. They have known each other since 2012.

To recall, in the 2022 elections, they both won after earning overwhelming figures in terms of votes. Marcos got over 31 million votes and Duterte had more than 32 million. 

As for the possibility of teaming up again with Marcoses, Sara firmly refuses saying, “Never again.”

Does she regret previously teaming up with UniTeam? She did not give an answer but said that such a topic needs a sit-down interview.

Regarding her 2028 election plans, she shared that she will give an answer by the fourth quarter of 2026.
