PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Gener and Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Gener and enhanced habagat will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (September 17, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Gener and enhanced habagat will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Gener is moving westward over Northern Luzon, Tropical Storm Pulasan and the enhanced the Southwest Monsoon will bring heavy rainfall in some areas.
Tropical Depression Gener was last spotted in the vicinity of Alicia, Isabela. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and central pressure of 996 hPa.
Gener will bring rains with gusty winds over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Rizal, and Quezon.
The enhanced southwest monsoon will bring monsoon rains over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, and Negros Occidental. It will also bring occasional rains over the rest of MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region .
Habagat will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.
The weather system will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.
The tropical cyclone is expected to leave the Philippines Area of Responsibility between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning (September 18, 2024).
The weather agency has also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in the following areas:
- Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- Isabela
- Quirino
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Apayao
- Kalinga
- Abra
- Ifugao
- Mountain Province
- Benguet
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Zambales
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- the northern and central portions of Bataan
- Aurora
- The northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands
- The northern portions of Rizal
- The northern portion of Metro Manila
