Martin Nievera shared this phase in his career
Concert King Martin Nievera admitted that there were days when he was being “diva king” because his fame consumed him.
Martin is considered one of the OPM icons. What he has achieved in the music industry is something that is inspiring for many younger artists. He sold millions of records and held many concerts in different big venues, and his songs are treasured by many fans until now.
With the success he accomplished as a performer, he admitted that there was a time when he was consumed by fame.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Martin Nievera shared that back then, he was really boastful.
“Talagang yumabang ako. Talagang mayabang si Martin. At hindi dahil sa title. I never paid attention to that title. But I really acted as some diva king before,” the Concert King shared.
He said that even his family reminded him to improve his behavior because not all the time he will be in the industry. His family did not allow him to continue being a diva. Martin recalled that his family feared that his downfall would be as fast as his rise to fame.
“So, they always make sure that I stay humble. So those bad days, those ‘bad Martin’ days, probably he thought he was really king,” the veteran singer said.
The Concert King also admitted that he had insecurities in the past but he thought that he was the best and so for him, he was the best. Martin shared that there was a time when it was hard for him to accept that there were new popular artists who were being chosen over him.
It took him a while before accepting that new artists are coming, especially in ASAP. He also knows that certain production numbers are now being given to younger artists like Jed Madela, Darren Espanto, and other younger singers.
With all he went through in the industry, Martin Nievera said that there is only one constant and that is, “There’s someone who will always replace you. Someone will always be better than you. Always.”
