She was formally introduced as the representative of Talisay alongside other candidates for Miss Universe Philippines 2024 on February 18, 2024, at the Grand Ballroom of Hilton Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The event was hosted by Beatrice Luigi Gomez, a top 5 finalist in Miss Universe 2021 and Ralph de Leon.
Mary Josephine Paaske shared that many people assumed she grew up in a lavish lifestyle especially because she is biracial. In her post, she shared about their simple way of living.
Miss Universe PH Cebu said that her father faced mental health challenges, so she needed to help her mother and became the breadwinner. She mentioned that she worked on a farm.
She said that despite their house being made of light materials, she has many stories that were built within their home.
“Currently our house is made of light marterials. It’s not lavish but I have many stories to tell from our house that has empowered me as a woman now. We share it with our extended family, finding comfort and support together amidst adversities,” she wrote.
