Vice President Sara Duterte reveals plan for 2028 National Elections: “Hindi ko gustong tumakbong president.”

In a recent statement on Sunday (November 19, 2023), Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio made it clear that she has no intentions of running for president in the upcoming 2028 national elections.

According to Inday Sara, in the end, it is God’s plan that will prevail, despite any personal plans we may make.

“Hindi ko naman po talaga ambisyon na tumakbong vice president and lalong-lalo na ang president. Alam niyo naman lahat yan. Sinabi ko noon na hindi ko gustong tumakbong president,” Duterte said.

Earlier this year, a commissioned survey by the Social Weather Station revealed that Duterte was among the preferred choices of people looking to succeed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in 2028.

Other figures on the list included Senator Raffy Tulfo and Vice President Leni Robredo. However, 41 percent of respondents either did not respond, did not know, or refused to answer.

Regarding her working relationship with Marcos amidst speculation about issues within the UniTeam coalition, Duterte assured that everything was okay. “We’re okay,” Duterte responded when asked about her working relationship with Marcos.

Addressing the rumored impeachment plans against her by some lawmakers in the House of Representatives, Duterte mentioned, “We are currently doing our due diligence about this one, and then we will release a comment at the appropriate time.”

House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo previously denied any impeachment plans, while House Speaker Martin Romualdez stated that there is “nothing in the offing” concerning impeachment.

“Nothing filed, no news of that,” said Romualdez, expressing his lack of knowledge about the source of information regarding the alleged plan to remove Duterte from office.

Last week, House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro mentioned that leaders from other parties were discussing the possibility of an impeachment against Duterte.

Castro had earlier filed a grave threat complaint against Duterte’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, related to statements made in an SMNI interview.

The social media users expressed their reactions to Sara Duterte’s statement.
