During a hearing, Robin Padilla reminds others that he is also a senator and this is the reason behind it.
Philippine Senator Robin Padilla lamented during a hearing airing that he is also a senator because of this happening.
Senator Robin Padilla expressed something during a hearing of the Senate finance subcommittee tackling the proposed 2024 budget of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
His sentiments were concerning Camarines Norte, where he was birth.
During the hearing, he quipped, “Ang senador dito hindi lamang si Chiz Escudero“ and added, “Senador din ako”.
His sentiments came after Camarines Norte did not make it to the list of the Philippine National Railways South Long Haul project. According to Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez, the project will run from Calamba, Laguna to Daraga, Albay (Phase 1) and Daraga to Matnog, Sorsogon (Phase 2).
Sorsogon is the province of Escudero.
The phase three, on the other hand, is from Tiaong, Quezon to Batangas Port while Phase 4 covers from Calamba to Sucat. However, the railway project was hampered due to some issues with the budget.
Regardless of this, Padilla still questioned why his birthplace was not included citing “parang aping-api kami”. He feels like they were neglected.
The Undersecretary for Railways expressed that it is actually part of the project but for now, no fund has been released. Apart from being excluded from the railway project, the senator also aired that his province seemed neglected even in airport rehabilitation.
“Basted na kami sa train, basted pa rin sa airport. Napakasawing pag-ibig naman nito,” the senator furthered.
Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito, after Padilla aired his sentiments, assured him that a fund would be allotted for the railway project in Camarines Norte as per a report from Inquirer.
