Alleged Recruiter Arrested in Entrapment Operation For Scamming Victims by Offering Fruit-Picking Jobs in Poland

An alleged recruiter offering fruit-picking jobs in Poland has been arrested by police authorities in an entrapment operation.

In a recent entrapment operation, a woman who allegedly scammed victims by offering fruit-picking jobs in Poland but failed to deliver after receiving payment was apprehended. Meanwhile, authorities are also searching for a group of Filipinas who promised jobs in Japan.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jemily Casalona, was arrested during the entrapment operation conducted by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Anti-Transnational Crime Unit.

According to the police, the suspect purportedly offered jobs as fruit pickers in Poland with a monthly salary of around ₱100,000 and additional benefits.

One of the victims, Elizabeth Endencio, was supposed to leave for Taiwan for work but decided not to proceed after learning about Casalona’s offer. Endencio allegedly paid the suspect ₱140,000 in full but did not receive any employment despite several months passing by.

Unable to leave and in desperate need of funds, Endencio even pawned her property and borrowed money to come up with the payment for the suspect.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Huesca, the head of CIDG-ATCD, Casalona was not authorized to recruit based on information from the Department of Migrant Workers.

Casalona also allegedly victimized Endencio’s cousin, Carlo Ferrer, who reportedly lost a substantial amout of money while trying to secure employment through the suspect.

Casalona, who refused to provide a statement, is now facing appropriate charges, as reported.

Meanwhile, several complainants have approached the police regarding a group that allegedly offered them jobs at a construction site in Japan.

The group reportedly swindled each victim out of at least ₱100,000, leaving them empty-handed. The authorities are currently searching for the Filipinas allegedly behind the group.
