Tito Sotto Blames Romeo Jalosjos for Sudden Departure from TAPE Inc

Former Senator and Eat Bulaga host Tito Sotto blamed Romeo Jalosjos for their sudden departure from the TAPE Inc.

Vicente “Tito” Sotto revealed in an interview the reason for their abrupt resignation from Eat Bulaga and Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. The previous Senate President expressed his displeasure with TAPE Inc chairman Romeo Jalosjos.

Sotto indicated in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal that they do not intend to resign on May 31, 2023. However, Jalosjos’ decision to deny them permission to air led them to announce their departure.

“Biglang pina-cancel ang live! Nagpa-order ng playback daw si Romy. Si Romy, nagpa-issue ng playback,” Sotto said.

Fans of Eat Bulaga may recall being surprised when the Friday episode aired on television was a rerun. The host then requested one of their co-hosts, Maine Mendoza, to share the news with her 18 million followers.

Despite their efforts to make Eat Bulaga the most successful noontime show in the country, Sotto remarked that they felt disrespected by Jalosjos’ action. He complained that Jalosjos had unexpectedly interfered with their output after 44 years.

“After all these years na sobra-sobra ang kinita sa main, hindi man lang kami mabigyan ng [respeto] diba?” he said.

“All of a sudden, bigla mo kaming pakikialaman, 44 years, may naiintindihan ka ba sa production? Makakarating ba kami dito kung hindi kami experts dito?” he added.

As of this writing, Jalosjos had not responded to Sotto’s statement. In an earlier answer, TAPE Inc implied that the show would continue without Sotto and the other Eat Bulaga hosts.
