School Janitor Graduates Senior High School Alongside His Daughter
Inspiring Father-Daughter Duo – A school janitor successfully completed his senior high school education alongside his daughter.
In a heartwarming tale of determination and familial bond, a father and daughter in Bulacan have successfully completed their senior high school education together.
Eleazar Begornia, a janitor at the very school where his daughter, Jenalyn, studied, found himself not only working alongside her but also becoming her classmate. The remarkable story unfolded at the Immaculate Conception Institutions, where both of them pursued their education.
Surprisingly, it was the school where Eleazar worked that encouraged him to continue his studies alongside Jenalyn.
When he wasn’t working, Eleazar would accompany his daughter to school and provide for their meals. Despite being a bit “rusty” academically, Eleazar’s daughter, Jenalyn, took on the role of tutor for her father.
For Jenalyn, her father was not only a parent but also a friend at school. “Hindi ko lang po siya tatay ko, naging kaibigan ko rin po siya dito sa school. Kapag nagkikita po kami nagkakamustahan, nagpapalibre—s’yempre tatay ko— kumakain po kami sa canteen,” she said.
Jenalyn is proud of her father’s commitment and witnessed firsthand Eleazar’s perseverance in juggling work and education to complete his senior high school studies.
The young lady plans to pursue a course in hospitality tourism in college, while Eleazar initially had doubts about continuing his education. However, he was pleasantly surprised when the school surprised him with a scholarship program.
“Gusto ko po umangat. Hindi habang panahon laging nasa ibaba gusto ko rin tumaas, Hindi lang palaging sa pagiging utility. Mas tumaas po para hindi palaging maliit ang tingin sa ‘yo,” the school janitor said.
Now, Eleazar plans to study physical education to become a PE teacher in the future.
